Dalkia secures MEP contract for Passivhaus school

10 Jun EdF's Dalkia UK will deliver an £8.9m package of MEP works for its third Passivhaus-standard school, Trinity Academy in Edinburgh. Work with the main contractor, McLaughlin & Harvey, will start in October.

The new building aims to reduce energy demand for space heating or cooling, resulting in lower running costs and carbon emissions.

It will also deliver on Edinburgh City Council’s aspirations for the curriculum to be inclusive and meet all digital and outdoor learning requirements. The project incorporates cycle storage and electric vehicle charging areas, encouraging active travel within the Council’s sustainable ‘Living Well Locally’ strategy.

“Our appointment at Trinity Academy reinforces the trust placed in our engineering teams to deliver sophisticated, energy efficient MEP installs for modern learning environments,” said John Irvine, regional director at Dalkia. “Passivhaus schools demand precision and a deep understanding of integrated building performance. This award is a testament to our expertise and our continued growth within the education sector.”
