Martin Smith

Martin Smith has joined Glasgow-based HFD Ģý as managing director after two years with Muir Group in Fife, where he was chief executive.

He joined Muir in August 2023 from ISG, where he was director of operations for major projects. He has also been, at various times, an area director for Miller Ģý, regional managing director for Robertson Group and divisional director at Interserve Ģý (now Tilbury Douglas).

At HFD Ģý he will oversee the build-out of a portfolio of projects that includes the construction of hundreds of megawatts of AI-ready data centres for DataVita, HFD Group’s data centre division, as well as city-centre office developments for Ospa – HFD’s serviced office division.

"Joining HFD Ģý at this pivotal moment is an exciting challenge,” Smith said. “My career has been focused on leading complex, large-scale developments, including critical hyperscale data centre infrastructure across Europe. I look forward to leveraging that 30 years of experience, alongside the talented HFD Ģý team, to successfully deliver the Group's ambitious pipeline of next-generation projects, including vital AI and renewable energy sectors and market leading office and commercial developments."

HFD Group chief executive William Hill said: "Martin joins at an exciting time for the business, with billions of pounds worth of construction scheduled across central Scotland in the coming years. His leadership will be crucial as we deliver on these ambitious projects."
