Market Drayton Town Council invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit tenders for the extension, refurbishment of equipment and installation of new equipment the Town Park Play Area

• Installation of new fencing and gates

• Removal and reinstatement of existing fencing

• Installation of new tarmac pathways

• Removal of existing pathways and reinstatement of grassed areas

• Refurbishment of existing play equipment

• Removal and disposal of obsolete play equipment

II.2.4) Description of the procurement

2.0 Scope of Works

2.1 Fencing

The contractor shall:

- Remove approximately 23m of existing bow top fencing.

- Make good all surfaces following removal works

- Supply and install approximately 55m of fencing, reusing fencing where possible, blending old and new. New fencing to be 1200mm high Bow Topped powder coated either multi-colour to match existing or green.

- The new bow top fencing to be installed as per attachment A.

- To remove approximately 10m of bow top fencing at the rear of the play area.

- To reinstall approximately 5 m of bow top of fencing reusing the existing fence.

2.2. Path

The contractor shall:

- Remove approximately 30m x 2m of existing tarmac path.

- Reinstate removed pathway area with turf.

- Construct approximately 55m of new pathway, with concrete enging, around the outside of the fence. The pathway to be 2 mtrs wide.

- Ensure the new path forms a smooth curved transition linking to the new pathway to the existing pathway

2.3. Gate

The contractor shall:

- supply and to install a new pedestrian access gate approx. 1200 wide, gate c/w hydraulic self-closing, non-slamming hinges along the new boundary fence.

- ensure gate installation complies with all relevant playground safety standards.

2.4 Refurbishing Current Equipment

The contractor shall:

- Repair and repaint the existing slide unit.

- Convert swing barriers into sensory play panels.

- Repaint the existing swings

- Undertake all refurbishment works using durable, child-safe materials and coatings.

2.5 Items to be removed

- The two rockers and all associated foundations or footings

All waste disposal shall comply with all relevant environmental legislation

2.6 . Existing Equipment to Remain

- The existing roundabout to remain in situ and is excluded from works

The Contractor shall ensure all retained equipment is protected during construction works.

2.7. New Equipment

The Contractor shall:

- To supply a minimum of 6 new pieces of play equipment:

- one see saw to replace the current rockers.

- One piece of equipment on the concrete to be installed on wetpour

- one goalpost on the grassed area by the hedge.

- A minimum of 3 pieces of equipment with suitable safety flooring.

- To mark some floor level games/visuals on the tarmac.

- Ensure new equipment complements the existing play provision

- Provide inclusive and accessible play opportunities for children 8 years and under.

- Include all associated safety surfacing, foundations, fixings, and installation works.

- Provide product specifications, warranties, and maintenance information with the tender submission

The above list of play equipment is suggestive and can be changed by the Contractor if required.

2.8 Signage

The Contractor shall provide and install all required safety and operational signage in accordance with current standards and regulations.
